Types of Dental Implants
At DeFont Family Dental, we offer several dental implant options to restore your smile with durability and natural aesthetics. Here’s an overview of the types of implants we provide:
Endosteal Implants: These are the most common type of dental implants, placed directly into the jawbone. Endosteal implants are versatile and suitable for single or multiple tooth restorations, and they provide a stable and durable foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures.
All-on-4 Dental Implants: This innovative solution replaces a full arch of missing teeth with just four strategically placed implants. Benefits include a faster treatment process, minimal bone loss, and a secure foundation for a complete set of fixed prosthetic teeth. The procedure helps your denture to fit more securely and prevents the need for creams, adhesive strips, and gels. The procedure is safe, easy and most implants heal fully in about six months.
Single Tooth Implants: Single implants replace just one missing tooth at a time. The implant is typically made from titanium, which is inserted deep into the jawbone. Over time, the implant will fuse with the bone and become an integral part of your smile. After healing, a crown can be made to attach to the top of the implant. It offers a natural look and function while preserving adjacent teeth and providing a long-lasting solution.
Each type of implant is designed to meet specific needs and enhance your overall oral health. Contact us to find out which option is best for you.

What Are Dental Implants, and How Do They Work?
Dental implants consist of titanium posts that replace the roots of missing teeth. These posts serve as a foundation for porcelain crowns that look and function like real teeth. Implants can also support dentures and full-mouth restorations, providing a stable and durable solution.
Dental implants have many benefits, such as:
- Preserve the natural bone in the mouth, helping stimulate new bone growth.
- Provide long-term value financially compared to other restorative solutions.
- Implants are permanent and do not slip or click like other solutions.
- Implants are comfortable and look and feel natural in the mouth.
- They can last upwards of 25 years or a lifetime if they are cared for properly.
- Dental Implants restore full chewing power and are as strong as natural teeth.

How Long Does It Take to Get a Dental Implant?
The dental implant process involves several steps and multiple appointments. First, Dr. DeFont conducts a consultation to discuss your goals and determine the best treatment plan. Then, he surgically places a titanium post into your jawbone.
After the implant is placed, it needs a few months to integrate with the bone through a process called osseointegration. This fusion allows the implant to function like a natural tooth root. Once the implant has fully integrated, you return to our office to complete the restoration. An abutment is placed on top of the implant to hold the custom-made crown securely. The crown is designed to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth. Temporary crowns may be used until the permanent crown is ready.
For the implant to remain sturdy and supportive, there must be enough bone in the jaw. If needed, bone grafts can be performed to provide additional support.
